OUR MISSION
St. Mary's University College is a Catholic post-secondary, student-focused liberal arts and sciences teaching and research institution. Through the synthesis of faith and reason, St. Mary's University College invites and challenges all individuals of the community to become compassionate, thoughtful and resourceful members of society. OUR VISION St. Mary's University College is a beacon of learning, civility, and hope, inspiring students to lead with integrity and to meet the future with confidence, intellectual acuity, moral conviction, and a passion for social justice and the common good. FOUNDED The original St. Mary's College Act received Royal Assent on September 18, 1986. On June 16, 2004, St. Mary's College officially became St. Mary's University College and was authorized to grant its own Bachelor of Arts (BA) degrees. MOTTO In lumine tuo videbimus lumen (In your light we shall see light). Psalm 36:9 Avarage Class Size - 19 students University College Colours - Blue and Gold Team Name - Lightning Team Mascot - Zeus STUDENT PUBLICATION Salvia: The Student Academic Journal highlights the academic work students do for their courses, such as term papers, short essays, lab reports, presentations, explications, and discussion papers. It also raises awareness of student excellence for the wider St. Mary's community and the non-academic public. Salvia is published annually and is on sale for $5.00. THE STAR The icon complementing the name St. Mary's is based on the letter "M" for Mary. Four qualities of Mary (simplicity, clarity, purity and confidence) are each represented by one of the four letter M's. As these four letters are brought together, toward the centre, they begin to form a simple framework of a star that is integral to the motto of St. Mary's: "In your light we shall see light." (Psalm 36:9).
